Russian forces launched a massive drone- and missile-attack across Ukraine on the night of 6–7 December 2025, striking multiple regions simultaneously.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the barrage included 653 attack drones and 51 missiles. The targets were not only front-line military zones but crucial components of civilian infrastructure: power plants, substations, and railway hubs.
The impact was severe. Power outages have hit at least eight Ukrainian regions, forcing even nuclear power plants to curtail output, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In addition, several civilians were wounded during the strikes including residents in and around Kyiv and Poltava regions.
The attacks come even as diplomatic efforts are ongoing. Ukraine and the United States recently resumed talks aimed at shaping a post-war security framework yet the Russian offensive shows no sign of abating.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strikes, stating that Russia is again deliberately targeting critical civilian infrastructure — a move described by many analysts as winter-season escalatory warfare meant to undermine morale and undermine essential services.
As winter deepens, many fear further strikes could lead to harsher humanitarian impact — with heating, electricity, and basic services already under threat in multiple regions.
