Six Injured in Russian Drone Strikes on Odesa, Including Three Children

Russian forces launched an overnight drone attack on Ukraine’s southern port city of Odesa on December 30-31, 2025. Officials report six people injured, including three children (one a toddler). The strikes targeted civilian infrastructure, damaging apartment buildings and energy facilities.

Details of Drone Strikes on Odesa

Regional military administration head Oleh Kiper confirms four apartment buildings suffered damage, with fires breaking out in some units. Ukraine’s private energy provider DTEK reports significant hits to two facilities, causing widespread power outages affecting over 170,000 consumers. A logistics center and civilian vehicles also sustained damage.

The attack occurs amid Russia’s escalated long-range strikes on Ukrainian cities, coinciding with President Vladimir Putin’s New Year’s address expressing confidence in victory. Ukraine’s air defenses intercept many drones nationwide, but impacts persist in Odesa a frequent target due to its strategic port.

No fatalities report in this incident, though a 42-year-old man sustains serious injuries. This latest assault underscores ongoing civilian risks in the nearly four-year conflict, with UN data noting heightened civilian casualties in 2025.
