Veteran actor Shefali Shah revealed she broke down in tears of relief once Delhi Crime 3 premiered and the early reviews came in. In a heartfelt Instagram note, she admitted feeling “terrified” before the launch and doubting whether her reimagined portrayal of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi would resonate with audiences.
A Deeper, More Vulnerable Vartika
Shah explained that in Season 3, Vartika feels pain, anger, and compassion in equal measure and she channels that into her work rather than crime letting it show. She said this version of her character isn’t about bravado or heroics but about steadfast empathy and a relentless pursuit of justice.

When the series dropped and the reviews started flowing, Shefali said she was “overjoyed and weeping with relief.” She thanked viewers warmly, adding that she felt deeply understood both her portrayal and her emotional journey had connected with fans.
What She Learned About Her Audience
Shah said the overwhelming feedback made her realise something important: audiences show far more emotional intelligence and sensitivity than people often credit them with. She called herself “lucky” to receive such full embrace and expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support.
