Rabi Lamichhane Arrested from his Residence
Police arrested Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), from his residence in Budhanilkantha on Friday night after the Butwal bench of the High Court Tulsipur issued an order for his detention.

Judges Ramesh Dhakal and Swikriti Parajuli reversed the District Court’s previous ruling and ordered Lamichhane’s placement in judicial custody for further investigation. Soon after the verdict, police reached Lamichhane’s home and arrested him at around 9 PM.Rabi lamichhane updates
Prior to his arrest, Lamichhane had posted on the RSP’s official Facebook page, expressing concern about police presence outside his home even before the court order was made public.

“The deployment of police before the order raised serious suspicion,” he said. “I have always respected court orders and the rule of law. I had presented myself earlier as well, and I am ready to surrender now.”
He emphasized that he learned about the court’s decision through news outlets, but authorities had not yet presented any official documents or arrest warrant to him. He stated, “Police have entered my bedroom. Even though I am aware of the court’s decision from the news, I have not received any official papers yet.”
Lamichhane’s arrest marks a significant turning point in the legal proceedings against the RSP leader. Authorities will soon reveal additional details, clarify the impact of this development and outline the next steps in the case.
