A high-intensity explosion ripped through a vehicle parked at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station in central Delhi on the evening of November 10, 2025, killing at least eight people and injuring many others. The blast struck a busy street in Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area during rush hour, shattering windows of nearby vehicles and sending shockwaves through the building facades.
Early investigations indicated the explosion may have been caused by a bomb, with forensic scientists and major agencies pressed into action. Authorities registered the case under the Unlawful Activities prevention Act and the Explosives Act, signalling that they are treating the incident as a possible terrorist attack.
Impact From Local Devastation to Community Members
Delhi dealt with the immediate aftermath, the incident drew swift international attention. Countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Argentina, Iran and Sri Lanka publicly extended their condolences to the government and people of India.

The US Embassy in India issued a security advisory urging its citizens to “avoid the areas surrounding the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk,” stay alert in crowds, monitor local media and be aware of their surroundings.
Domestic leaders also responded. India’s Home Minister arrived at the hospital and blast site to meet injured victims and review rescue operations, while the Prime Minister conveyed his grief and directed a full investigation.
Among the victims was a bus conductor who supported a family of eight his death underscored the human cost of the tragedy and the fragility of everyday lives caught in such violent events.
