Morocco is experiencing a major boost in tourism. In July 2025, the country welcomed 2.7 million visitors, making it one of the best months in its tourism history. This number is 6% higher than in July 2024, showing that more people are choosing Morocco for summer holidays, cultural experiences, family visits, and business trips. The steady increase is a sign that Morocco’s tourism industry is stronger than ever.
Large Number of Foreign Tourists and Returning Moroccans Abroad
Of the 2.7 million people who visited Morocco in July 2025, about 875,000 were foreign tourists from countries around the world. Many came to explore famous cities such as Marrakech, Fez, Casablanca, and Agadir, or to enjoy Morocco’s mountains, deserts, and beautiful beaches. This is a 2% increase compared to the same month last year.

However, the largest group of visitors were Moroccans living abroad. Around 1.8 million Moroccans returned home for the summer. This number is 7% higher than last year. Even though they are citizens, the Moroccan government counts them in the tourism statistics because they also stay in hotels, rent cars, eat at restaurants, and visit tourist attractions just like international tourists.
Strong Tourism Growth in the First Seven Months of 2025
From January to the end of July 2025, 11.6 million tourists visited Morocco. This is a huge 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The Moroccan National Tourist Office reported that more than half of these visitors were Moroccans living abroad.
This growth shows that both foreign travelers and the Moroccan diaspora are more confident about traveling after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also proves that the country’s investment in tourism is working.

Even before July, Morocco had already set new tourism records. Between January and June 2025, the country received 8.9 million visitors, which is 19% higher than the same time in 2024.
June 2025 alone brought 1.7 million arrivals, setting a record for that month. Compared to June 2024, this was an 11% increase. This trend is important because it shows that people are visiting Morocco not only in peak summer but throughout the year, helping businesses like hotels, restaurants, and local shops maintain steady income.
The Important Role of the Moroccan Diaspora in Tourism
The Moroccan diaspora citizens living in other countries plays a huge part in the tourism industry. Every summer, millions return to visit family, attend weddings, and enjoy Morocco’s beaches, historical towns, and natural beauty.
Ministry of Tourism has big ambitions. The goal is to welcome 26 million tourists every year by 2030. The country will also host major international events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations. These events are expected to bring millions more visitors and boost Morocco’s global image as a must-visit destination.
