Government lawyer hacked to death in Tenkasi EPS slams ruling party for law-and-order collapse

Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu On 3 December 2025, a two-wheeler-borne assailant brutally murdered 45-year-old government lawyer Muthukumarasamy in broad daylight during a suspected land-dispute case. The attacker struck him with a sharp implement just outside his office at Koola Kadai Bazar. Although Muthukumarasamy tried to flee, the assailant chased him and assaulted him repeatedly. Doctors at a hospital later declared him dead.

The attack has triggered outrage among local legal fraternity. Hundreds of advocates from the Tenkasi court staged protests and road blockades demanding immediate arrest of the suspect and swift justice.

In response, opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) head of AIADMK sharply condemned the murder. He accused the ruling DMK government of presiding over a law-and-order collapse in Tamil Nadu, calling the state a “land of murders” where not even lawyers, or government officials feel safe anymore.

Palaniswami demanded a transparent investigation and strict legal action, warning that public confidence in law enforcement has eroded dangerously under current administration.

With public outrage mounting and calls for justice growing louder, all eyes are now on authorities to make a swift arrest and restore faith in the justice system in Tenkasi.
