On 7 December 2025, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt were arrested by a joint team of Rajasthan and Mumbai police in connection with a ₹30 crore fraud case filed in Udaipur.
Allegations The ₹30 crore IVF-fraud claim
The case, therefore, stems from a complaint filed by a doctor who, moreover, accuses Bhatt and his associates of duping him of ₹30 crore; specifically, they allegedly misled him under the pretext of producing a film, namely a biopic on the doctor’s late wife.
Before their arrest, police had issued a lookout notice against Bhatt, his wife, and six others, barring them from leaving the country
Bhatt’s response denies allegations, claims documents forged
Bhatt has strongly denied the allegations. . He asserted that the charges are false and that he is ready to cooperate fully with investigators.
They also alleged that the complainant abruptly stopped a film project midway and failed to clear dues to technicians accusing him of using the fraud case as a tactic to escape payments.
What authorities are doing now
After the arrest from a residence in Mumbai, Rajasthan police plan to seek transit remand from a Bandra court to transfer Bhatt to Udaipur for further interrogation and investigation.
