Investigators have confirmed the identity of the Red Fort car bomber through DNA analysis, identifying him as Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, the suspected lone wolf behind the deadly blast. The confirmation marks a turning point in the ongoing probe into one of Delhi’s most alarming terror incidents in recent years.
DNA Evidence Links Dr. Umar-un-Nabi to the Red Fort Attack
The National Investigation Agency and Delhi Police forensics teams matched DNA samples from human remains found near the blast site with those of Nabi’s mother. The match confirmed his involvement beyond doubt, putting an end to speculation about the bomber’s identity.

According to officials, only an arm was recovered from the explosion site near the Red Fort’s parking zone, where the car bomb detonated two days ago. The blast had killed Nabi instantly and injured several civilians in the vicinity.
Investigators Trace Radicalization Path and Lone Wolf Operation
Preliminary findings suggest that Nabi, a 29-year-old medical doctor, radicalized himself online and acted independently without direct backing from any major terror outfit. Sources indicate he had been following extremist propaganda and meticulously planned the attack over several months.
Authorities are now reviewing his digital footprint, including encrypted chats and suspicious financial transactions, to determine whether he had indirect foreign links or received logistical support from smaller radical groups.
High-Level Security Review and Political Response in Delhi
Following the DNA confirmation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level security meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah and top intelligence officials. The discussion centered on strengthening surveillance systems and preventing similar lone-wolf attacks in high-security zones.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police have heightened security at major landmarks, including India Gate and Parliament Street, as part of precautionary measures.
