A 16-year-old student’s tragic death in Delhi has triggered mass protests outside his school, as his family accused teachers of persistent harassment and demanded arrests. School staff allegedly treated a Class 10 boy from St. Columba’s School in Delhi badly for months, and he died by suicide as a result.
The matter exploded into public outrage when protesters gathered outside the school, accusing the institution of “institutional murder” and demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible.

Police have registered an FIR under abetment to suicide and launched an investigation. The Delhi government also announced the formation of a five-member panel to probe the incident and examine student mental health protocols in schools.
The case has reignited debates about bullying, teacher behaviour, and the mental health of students. Many are calling for stricter safeguards, transparent complaint mechanisms and better support systems within schools to prevent such tragedies.
