BENGALURU / NEW DELHI The internal power struggle within Karnataka’s ruling Congress government enters a decisive phase as the party’s High Command prepares a crucial meeting to resolve tensions between Siddaramaiah (Chief Minister) and D. K. Shivakumar (Deputy CM).
Earlier this week, the High Command instructed both leaders to meet for talks — prompting Siddaramaiah to invite Shivakumar for a breakfast-time discussion at the official CM residence. Congress Though seen as a move to calm nerves, the directive has raised expectations of an eventual verdict from New Delhi.

Shivakumar, meanwhile, has maintained a cautious tone. While his supporters remain adamant about the promised rotation, he publicly clarified that “the party will decide,” and he is “not in a hurry.”
For his part, Siddaramaiah insists he will abide by whatever the High Command decides — but reiterated that no formal agreement exists that compels a leadership change at this point. Many within the party believe the High Command’s decision could reshape Karnataka’s political landscape ahead of the next major elections.
