Car Crashes into Vancouver Festival, Kills Several
Vancouver, Canada – A tragic incident struck a street festival in Vancouver on Saturday night, April 26, 2025. A black SUV plowed into a crowd at the Lapu Lapu festival, killing as many as eight people and injuring others.

The crash happened around 8:14 p.m. near East 41st Avenue and Fraser Street in South Vancouver.
Vancouver Police called it a “mass casualty incident.” They arrested the driver, who is now in custody. Police have not released the driver’s identity or motive. Six of the injured are in critical condition, according to sources cited by Global BC.
The festival was a lively community event celebrating Filipino culture. Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim expressed deep sadness, saying his thoughts are with the victims and the Filipino community. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called the event “horrific.” Political leaders, including Pierre Poilievre and David Eby, shared condolences, with Poilievre calling it a “senseless attack.”
Police are investigating and promise more details soon. The community is in shock, mourning the loss of life at what was meant to be a joyful gathering.
