Bulgaria’s Prime Minister has officially stepped down following days of nationwide protests, marking one of the most dramatic political shifts the country has faced in recent years. The resignation comes amid mounting public frustration over governance, corruption allegations, and economic challenges.
Thousands Rally Across Bulgaria
For nearly a week, major cities including Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna saw large crowds demanding accountability and immediate leadership change. Demonstrators accused the government of failing to address rising inflation, weakening institutions, and political instability.
Despite repeated calls for calm, the protests grew louder, forcing the government into crisis mode.
In a brief national statement, the Prime Minister acknowledged the growing public pressure and said stepping down was necessary to “restore stability and allow the country to move forward.”He also urged citizens to remain peaceful as political processes unfold.
Opposition Parties Protests Welcome the Move
