Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, describing the occasion as a “Vikas Utsav” (festival of development) for the North-East. The project marks a major boost to regional connectivity and economic growth.
A Major Infrastructure Boost for the North-East
While addressing the gathering, PM Modi said the new terminal reflects the government’s commitment to transforming the North-East into a growth hub. He highlighted that improved air connectivity will strengthen tourism, trade, and investment across the region.
Moreover, the Prime Minister emphasized that the North-East now plays a central role in India’s development journey rather than remaining on the margins.
Modern Terminal to Improve Passenger Experience
The newly inaugurated terminal features modern infrastructure designed to handle a growing number of passengers. Officials said the facility will significantly enhance travel efficiency while meeting future demand.
As a result, Guwahati airport is expected to emerge as a key aviation gateway for the entire North-Eastern region.
Focus on Connectivity and Growth
PM Modi underlined that airports, highways, railways, and digital infrastructure form the backbone of regional development. Therefore, projects like the Guwahati airport terminal aim to connect people, markets, and opportunities.
He also noted that better connectivity helps create jobs and supports local businesses.
Calling the inauguration a “Vikas Utsav,” the Prime Minister said the project symbolizes the rapid pace of development in the North-East over recent years. According to him, sustained investment has improved infrastructure, reduced travel time, and increased economic integration.
At the same time, the government remains focused on inclusive growth that benefits all sections of society.
