Since returning to office for a second term, President Trump’s support among Americans has fallen significantly, as voters express frustration over his recent policy decisions, economic direction, and executive actions.
A 2025 national survey by PRRI found that 56% of Americans now disapprove of Trump’s performance just 42% approve. Meanwhile, polls by Pew Research Center indicate mounting concern about the Trump administration’s tariff policies and the broader impact on inflation and living costs.
Many Americans cite economic hardship, rising costs, and dissatisfaction with the handling of trade and inflation as reasons for their disapproval. In that regard, economic issues have overtaken previously polarizing topics such as immigration and foreign policy.
At the same time, there is growing unease about expanding presidential power a majority of respondents in one recent poll agreed that Trump has already “gone too far” with executive decisions.
Whether this disapproval will translate into broader political consequences such as voter backlash in upcoming elections or deeper internal divisions within his party remains an open question.
