Fans spot a connection between Dhurandhar and Uri The “Spy-Universe” theory gains steam

Fans spot a connection between Dhurandhar and Uri The “Spy-Universe” theory gains steam

Since the release of Dhurandhar on 5 December 2025, a fan-driven theory has rapidly gained traction across social media: many viewers believe that the film may secretly connect to Uri effectively turning both into parts of a larger “Aditya Dhar universe.”

The spark for the theory is a single shared name: the protagonist of Dhurandhar — initially introduced as “Hamza” is later revealed to be Jaskirat Singh Rangi. That name immediately rings a bell for fans of Uri, as in the 2019 film a character mentions a soldier by the same name who supposedly died in action.

One fan on Instagram commented after watching Dhurandhar: “DHURANDHAR URI: THE SURGICAL STRIKE Spy Universe in making.”

Points supporting the theory and the sceptic arguments

Matching name The exact name “Jaskirat Singh Rangi” appears in both films in Uri (as the martyred soldier) and in Dhurandhar (as the undercover agent’s real identity). Many fans feel such a specific name reuse is unlikely to be random.

Same director Aditya Dhar creator of both films which gives some plausibility that the reuse of name (or back-story element) could be intentional, maybe as a hidden narrative thread.

Fan interest and speculation The connection has sparked wide online interest and theories many users have voiced excitement over a potential shared universe, especially with a sequel Dhurandhar 2 already slated for March 2026.

What casts doubt / suggests caution

Timeline mismatch Critics of the theory point out that the timelines of the two films may not align. This temporal gap makes it hard to reconcile how the same “Jaskirat Singh Rangi” could logically exist in both universes as the same character.

Possible coincidence / homage rather than continuity Some believe the name reuse might be a deliberate nod, homage or Easter-egg a fun reference but not meant as canonical continuity. One social-media user wrote: “This is just a name reference and nothing else.

No official confirmation Neither the filmmakers nor producers have confirmed any shared universe. Until there is an explicit statement or narrative tie-in, all connections remain speculative.
