At the IGNITION Summit on December 3, 2025, KTR unleashed a scathing critique of Rahul Gandhi, calling him an “albatross around the neck” of India’s Opposition. He argued that under Gandhi’s leadership, Congress lacks a long-term vision on economy, jobs, innovation and industrial growth effectively weakening the Opposition and strengthening Narendra Modi’s hand.
KTR further claimed the Congress has lost relevance at the national level, pointing to what he called Congress’s failed state-level governance record in Telangana. He blamed the current Congress government for ambitious promises that strained state finances and alleged “corruption, incompetence, and administrative chaos” have reversed the developmental gains made under BRS rule.
In response, state Congress leaders rejected KTR’s attack. The working president of the state unit argued that KTR has “no moral right” to criticise Rahul Gandhi, pointing out that it was Congress not BRS that backed Telangana’s statehood despite anticipated political costs.
The rebuttal underscores the deepening political confrontation in Telangana, as both parties try to reset their narrative. While BRS frames Congress as failing to deliver on promises and betraying public trust, Congress rejects personal attacks and questions BRS’s own record when it was in power.
