Tech and space-industry magnate Elon Musk has stirred fresh global debate by predicting that humanity may face a major war including the possibility of nuclear conflict within the next five to ten years.
Musk made the remark in a post on X (formerly Twitter), responding to a suggestion that nuclear deterrence might prevent conflict between world powers. He said he considers war “inevitable” and cautioned that current geopolitical tensions and nuclear-armed rivalries raise the odds of a global conflagration.
This isn’t the first time Musk has spoken of existential risks he has previously warned that global conflicts, elon intensifying use of drones and AI-driven warfare, and unchecked arms races could push civilization to the brink.
Musk has also used his position as head of SpaceX to reiterate his long-standing argument for colonizing other planets as a safeguard for humanity especially if a global war devastates Earth.
Whether one takes Musk’s view as alarmist or a wake-up call, his prediction has sparked concern and triggered renewed discussion about the fragility of global peace in today’s volatile international climate.
