Kim Jong Un Hails 80 Years of North Korea’s Ruling Party, Pledges to Build a “Socialist Paradise”

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un marked the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea with a defiant pledge to continue the nation’s path toward self-reliance and what he called a socialist paradise free from error. The remarks, delivered during a grand ceremony in Pyongyang, underscored Kim’s unwavering commitment to his party’s ideology and his nation’s isolationist resilience amid global criticism and economic strain.

Workers’ Party of Korea’s 80-Year Legacy of Centralized Rule

Founded in 1945 under Kim Il Sung, North Korea’s founding leader and Kim Jong Un’s grandfather, the Workers’ Party of Korea has served as the political backbone of the country’s authoritarian system. Kim praised the WPK for maintaining “absolute unity, ideological purity, and revolutionary integrity” for eight decades, portraying it as a flawless institution guiding the nation through hardship and foreign pressure.

In his speech, Kim declared that the party had never made a single mistake in its leadership, a statement reflecting the regime’s long-standing narrative that the WPK’s rule is infallible and divinely justified.

Kim’s Vision for a Self-Reliant Socialist Future

Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his vow to transform North Korea into a prosperous socialist paradise , focusing on economic modernization, agricultural self-sufficiency, and scientific progress. He urged citizens to “trust the party’s leadership without hesitation” and to resist what he described as “imperialist attempts to destabilize” the nation.

North Korea’s state ideology of self-reliance, as well as Songun, the military-first policy that places the army at the center of national life. Moreover, he claimed that strict adherence to these principles would not only ensure the country’s survival but also, in the long run, lead to its eventual triumph over foreign sanctions and isolation. Consequently, these ideologies were presented as both a shield against external pressure and a roadmap toward national resilience.

Celebration Amid Economic Challenges and Isolation

Despite the festive atmosphere, North Korea continues to face economic stagnation, worsened by international sanctions, limited trade with China, and years of self-imposed border closures due to COVID-19. Food shortages, rising prices, and infrastructure decay remain significant concerns, though state media avoided mentioning these issues during the celebrations.

Instead, the anniversary events featured military parades, large-scale mass dances, and displays of national unity, reinforcing Kim’s message that internal strength outweighs international cooperation
