Musk, serving as an adviser to Trump, led government budget cuts through his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team.

This has caused unrest among federal workers, sparking protests and opposition from various government factions.

DOGE has targeted HUD, and the agency recently claimed that it recovered $1.9 billion allegedly “misplaced during the Biden administration.”

The world’s richest man, Musk, has also pushed federal workers to boost their productivity.

On Saturday, Musk instructed the Office of Personnel and Management to send an email to government workers, demanding they provide a five-point list of their accomplishments from the previous week.

He set a deadline of midnight Monday into Tuesday for them to submit the list, but OPM later clarified to human resource departments across the government that the request was not mandatory.

“There was a lot of genius in sending it,” Trump told reporters on Monday. “We’re trying to find out if people are working, and so we’re sending a letter to people, ‘Please tell us what you did last week.’

“If people don’t respond, it’s very possible that there is no such person or they’re not working.”

The short video surfaced just two days after Elon Musk, the tech billionaire appointed by Trump to oversee federal budget cuts, ordered federal workers to reply to an email summarizing their accomplishments from the past workweek.

While the email didn’t explicitly mention the threat of resignation, it gave employees a Monday night deadline to submit about five bullet points detailing their achievements.

A few cabinet secretaries, including those involved in national security, told their agencies not to follow the directive due to the sensitive nature of their work.

At the housing department, employees asked their superiors whether to comply, but they haven’t received clear guidance yet.

The video appeared on the first day all housing department workers had to return to headquarters, following Trump’s order to end remote work.

Leaders couldn’t immediately figure out how hackers accessed the monitors, so they unplugged several devices.
